EOP series (mostly operational) & comparison

Analysis of the EOP series | Consistency of the EOP series

Updated : February 2023

Thereafter the "individual" or "intra-technique" series for VLBI, GNSS, SLR techniques are made available to users from their beginning until the present. Most of them are operational : they are are derived from current analyses, carried out with the most recent observations. Up-dated daily (GNSS) or 1/2 times per week (VLBI/SLR), they are presently used for achieving the operational combined series C04 of the EOP-PC.

They are labelled by the acronyms of the institutes or the organizations of which they originate. FORMAT OF THE SERIES can be found in the file format.eop.

Important remark concerning the application of the IAU 2000 conventions.

From the following table you can either open the series you are interested in (click on the link), or compare series after you have selected two of them, over an time span to be chosen just below (option of comparison have to be chosen below the table).

1Remark : the celestial pole offsets of VLBI series and combined series are provided both under the form (dψ,dε) / IAU 1980 and (dX,dY) / IAU 2000. To comply with IAU recommendations regarding high-accuracy transformation between celestial and terrestrial reference systems, it is expected that the publication of dpsi and deps representation of the celestial pole offsets with respect to the IAU 1976 precession and IAU 1980 Nutation models will stop after users have indicated that they are no longer required. Celestial pole offsets are now published in the form of dX and dY with respect to the IAU 2000 precession-nutation formulation, and a software to transform between the two representations is available from the SOFA package. Some users may prefer the parameter (dψ,dε) / IAU 2000 , and then can use the approximation (error < 1 microarcsecond over 1980-2020) : dψ sin ε0=dX, dε= dY or the accurate relation, written in the chapter 5 of the IERS 2000 conventions.
